Here's a brief summary of what this blog is for:
I was recently hired to become an ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) in Japan through a company called Interac. (Lol. See? Interac, Interactions? "..." I know, silly, but you'll be dealing with silly comments like this for the rest of the blog. Just forewarning.)
So, what do I do as an ALT? Teaching English! But, more importantly, I'll be an cultural embassador for America. Am I the best candidate for this? I personally don't think so, but who knows?
A little bit about myself:
I'm a 22 year old recent graduate from UCSB that majored in Japanese (go figure) and now live in Alabama with my parents while I wait for my one-year move to Japan!
Anyway, the real reason behind doing this blog lies in the fact that my aunt wants "to live vicariously" through me. And yes, those were her exact words and she's probably going to read that and laugh. Also the fact that keeping track of my adventures would probably be a good thing, and I'd have a vessel for sharing all the photos that I'm bound to take in Japan. :D
For my next post I'll talk about the interview process and my thoughts on Interac. These will probably be scattered between my posts as I learn more about how the program works. I guess it'll be a reference for others interested in the program. Hope it helps!
Until then, I'm off to bed. G'night, ya'll!
